Second Crop Diversification Project: An Integrated Extension Approach for Rural Development

In Bangladesh in most cases agricultural extension approaches is mainly adopted for boost up agricultural production in term of quality or quantity or both. For the first time in Bangladesh, marketing for premium price for small and marginal farmer have been ensured in the Second Crop Diversification Project. This brought a meaningful success for the development of livelihood of small and marginal farmers through integrating high value crops production approaches including need base loan support, value addition and marketing approach. Consequently, this project was recognized as some of national and international awards (Best International Stall Award-2014 by International Horticultural Expo, Goahati, India; Best project Award-2015 by Asian Development Bank; Best Project Team Award-2016 by Asian Development Bank; and Best Practice Award-2017 by BAEN).
