The Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE) has issued four instructions to prevent potential crop damage in anticipation of Cyclone Mocha.
The DAE’s press release on Tuesday stated that the low-pressure system over the Bay of Bengal has strengthened and developed into a depression, and could potentially escalate into a cyclone by Friday or Saturday.
The cyclone, the press release further stated, may pose a significant risk to crops.
To mitigate potential damage, the DAE has advised farmers to harvest 80% of ripe paddy, mature mangoes and other crops.
